59 Almajiris who sneaked into Benue State transported back to their home states.

59 almajiris or street urchins who recently sneaked into Benue state in the night in the name of looking for jobs but were busted early this week by the Benue State Action Committee on COVID-19 were today repatriated to their home states.

Chairman of the Committee and state deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu who led members of the Committee to the Ikeja Street base of the almajiris, explained that 42 of the young men were from Katsina State, while the remaining 17 are from Bauchi State.

He said their continuous stay in the state where they lived crammed together in one place is a violation of the presidential guidelines on containment of COVID-19 and a great danger to the Benue people.

The almajiris, who were put in buses provided by the Benue State Action Committee and escorted by security men out of the state are to be handed over to their state governors.
